Mobile App for Solar Customers
The Prototype
The Brief:
Our Creative Team at liquidfish was tasked with creating an app for EightTwenty Solar's customers. This would include an onboarding walkthrough that helped capture lead information and help a customer start an inquiry about a specific solar project. Once inside the app. The customer would be able to check on status of any solar projects they have, see live updates of data from their installations, learn more about the company, and even reach out to support staff with questions.
The Process:
The beginning of this project started off a little rough with a lack of clarity between scope and what the client wanted in MVP. I worked with 2 devs, the client account manager, and the client through quite a few rounds of user flows until we landed on the MVP and a list of features for phase 2 of the app. With the beta release of Figjam, I used this for user flows for the first time. It worked out quite nice. Other designers and devs were able to hop into the file and give feedback easily. I was able to share the link with the client, annotate, and change things in real time as well.
From there, I worked closely with our top designer to map out the wireframes. As the CD on this project (and the closest knowledge of all requirements of the app), I helped give feedback on functionality and flow. We knew we were going to be using Monday.com as a main integration and Enphase for solar data. I kept these things in mind when thinking through capabilities and data connections with the designs.
After client approval of the wireframes, we moved onto high fidelity designs. Since we had already set up a pretty extensive UI kit for this client when we made their website, we used their current web style to influence the app designs. My coworker did amazing at pushing the style even further, complete with many additional custom icons. The app design and UI kit is currently wrapping up before it's handed off to development.
